Semi Related, I've been taking 5 mins every day to contact my reps to voice my opposition to whatever heinous act of the day is. Monday I'm calling about Tariffs. And been bugging my local reps about issues that would effect local issues in particular, i.e. the Fed freeze or the tariffs.

Thank you for calling attention to this in particular. So many heartbreaking things right now and this is such a huge one.

Thank you for this. It’s terrifying. I have a friend who is a director at WHO in Geneva and the impact has been swift and devastating. My niece is an OBGYN in a blue state and she can’t access CDC guidelines for certain treatments because the website was unavailable (and may still be.) It is a problem domestically, globally, it is disastrous. Thank you for putting this together. ❤️

Thanks so much for sharing this set of contacts and script! And more than that, thank you for including instructions for DC residents. We don't have our own voting senators/reps, so usually I'm not able to participate in pressuring elected officials - but these instructions helped me feel empowered to reach out.

I want to acknowledge how much I appreciate this guide generally; I also particularly appreciate that it gives concrete action to DC residents (of which I am one) for how to voice concerns to Congressional members, since we lack voting representation in both houses. Thank you for sharing, and I will be reaching out to members of the Foreign Affairs Committee, as suggested.

I'm pretty much exclusively talking to staffers so a lot of were noting your comment and share your concerns. I dunno how productive it is but idk it feels like something and I figure it's a decent outlet. My local state rep responded to one of my four emails saying Canadian tariffs are just political postering so if that happens I am going to email him back plus when it effects us locally I am fully publically shaming him on Front Porch Forum.

Thank you for this. I just called both of my congressmen, both of whom are pretty crappy (I'm in PA) and NONE of their offices are taking calls. Like, all of my calls fail. I don't think I'm alone in this. I know emailing isn't super helpful so maybe I will write them a letter even though it may just be screaming into the void at this point.

Elon Musk now has access to every U.S. citizen’s social security number.

Yes. I’m so pissed.

Thank you. I called my senators and both their phones were busy. One of the automated messages told me to send an email through the web-based "contact us" form, so I did. I also shared this post with a friend I was fretting about this with this morning. Thank you for giving me the resources to try and do something about it.

The story at this point is NOT international development, global health, or other foreign policy concerns. It's national and domestic security, as Elon Musk and his six baby engineers infiltrated USAID Saturday night, took over severs and classified information, and over the course of several hours, starting around 5 pm Sunday, Feb. 2 systematically locked out an entire, essential part of the USAID workforce. This includes people posted overseas in dangerous conflict zones who now have no access to their email, security updates, or other vital info. Make no mistake - this is a full blown takeover of a legitimate government agency by a foreign national, unelected, and exercising vast power unabated. What's happening at USAID is a test run for the takeover of other US agencies. They are beta testing their MO. It's been fast, overwhelming, and comprehensive. This is the story - it is absolutely a coup.
