This beautiful piece feels autumnal. I have a sense of waiting and then the at-homeness of right timing. I’m making (and eating) peach-ginger butter as I read it. Thank you.
This is so beautiful, I found myself tearing up a bit at the end. My spouse and I purchased our first home in summer 2018, and I still also feel that sense of wonder at looking out the window at our garden, the flowers and plants, and the wildlife passing through. Thank you for sharing, and enjoy your peaches!
As others have said, so beautiful. A sense of longing and home, the desire to ground in home and nature, speaking to me as a lover of all of these things (and books, and things that books bought) and who also has a tendency to mourn the houses that got away. Cheers.
"He decides to be as careful as he can."
What a beautiful way to end this piece.
Thanks Brian!

Thanks Sonya, that is interesting—it is going down to the 40s tonight here.
This looks like the house that was in the movie Janet Planet…!

It would have been a terrible huge glorious project. But all the same…
You can eat as many peaches as you want, but you might be sorry later
Heh
And if you make jam, add a little aleppo pepper, and a little bit of salt, and you'll wind up with a lovely spread on toast, or with cheese ....
